OiLibya Morocco Rally : 10 years of blast
A Competition for everyone – that’s the idea
Emma and Stéphane Auclair, both experienced racers, met at the Dakar in 2007 and sealed their life path both personally and professionally to live their passion to the fullest. When, a few months later, they founded NPO Events and took over the OiLibya Morocco Rally, it was quite a challenge. Good. Challenge is their thing!
They immediately set the tone for the first OiLibya Morocco Rally by NPO Events in 2008: professionalism and friendliness. “We wanted our rally to make no difference between amateurs and top-notch professionals, racing categories, and rankings. Hence, for instance, the creation of the Open and Enduro Cup.” Since then, this spirit has lived on.
A blasting success for this fall gathering
In ten years, the OiLibya Morocco Rally by NPO Events has become the rally-raid autumn appointment for both professionals and amateurs. The number of participants has raced its way up from 300 in 2008, to 1000 today. “We are happy to see regulars come back every year. It feels a bit like a family gathering that everyone is looking forward to”.
Tough competition and performance
Becoming the final race of the FIM World Championship and of the FIA World Cup has certainly been a great landmark and a “wonderful recognition” for the rally. Racers go there to push their limits and to leave their marks both on the Moroccan ground and in the final rankings.
This final race is also an opportunity for the teams to test their equipment and organisation in the run up to the Dakar as the mixed terrain, demanding navigation and challenging routes of the Moroccan rally are very similar to the conditions of the grand South American rally-raid. The exact type of conditions that BFGoodrich® tires thrives on to prove their robustness, performance and versatility!
Thinking off the tracks
Just like all competitors, Emma and Stéphane are not the type to take anything for granted. Each year brings its share of innovation in terms of organisation, security and sport performance. “We always question ourselves and take into account participants’ feedback to improve.” This year, the contenders will be blasting through a new course of 2630 kms (1800 kms of special) from Fes to Erfoud with many unexplored tracks and specific route sections designed for each category.
Innovation, performance, professionalism and friendliness. This definitely speaks to BFGoodrich® who will be in the starting blocks in October to celebrate this decade of adrenaline and performance. With no doubt, a great #driver enough anniversary!
