Delphine Crosse: a French girl at the Carta Rallye
The course starts out at Guelmin and ends at Merzouga, crossing expanses of desert around Icht, Foum Zguid and Mhamid, all across Morocco.
The Carta Rallye: 2,000 km of desert and adrenalin
2,000 km of special stages in Morocco, across mountains, oueds and endless stretches of desert. Daily rankings, and 8 days of rough riding (tough on the human body as on vehicle mechanics!), both tested to the limit over a challenging course.
This year the team will be competing in the Cross Country category (a first for Delphine), where teams use a road-book and GPS to complete the course.
Delphine Crosse, from the South of France, has been a keen motor sports fan since she was a baby girl. Her track record and her experience as a co-driver are equally impressive. As co-driver at the Carta Rallye - a winner in 2015, 3rd spot in 2016 and again in 2017. And as a driver, the winner of the Roses des Sables trophy. And the list goes on!
She started out in motor sports with motocross events and jet-skiing. But her dreams have always set her sights higher, moving up to expanses of desert, mountains… and rallyes, like the Carta Rallye.
A dream that will come true in March 2018, with the support of BFGoodrich®.
A long preparation
Endurance will be of the essence to get through these days in the desert. Faultless navigation with pinpoint precision is also a must!
That’s why the Carta Rally needs preparation. And Delphine Crosse completed her training.
She took control of their new car (Toyota KDJ 95 D4D), fit the BFGoodrich® tires and did several test phases. Next week, Delphine and Xavier will do their last training session on the 10th and 11th of March. The real test, on the sandy playground in Morocco the day before the departure of the Carta Rally!
But this challenge also required specific physical and mental training. She multiplied sports sessions: outdoor running, cardiotraining, cross training, bodybuilding…
“I participated in a “mud run” in order to push my physical and mentallimits last spring”, she said. Good job ! A necessary training before the Rallye the 12th of March. Honourable mention : she will be the only female pilot this year.
Their technical preparation, strong spirit and physical optimization will sure take them straight to the podium ! Good luck Delphine and Xavier !
